TANCET 2012


TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) is the entrance examination conducted by the Anna University for admission to Master’s level programs MBA / MCA & ME / M. Tech / M. Arch / M. Plan. These courses are offered at University Departments of Anna University, Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy, Anna University, Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering and Arts & Science Colleges / standalone Institutions.

TANCET Eligibility Criteria


The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to MBA program through TANCET 2012 is graduate in any discipline under the 10+2+3/4 pattern or pass in any degree with 10+3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern.
However, the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to MCA program through TANCET 2012 is bachelor’s degree with mathematics as a core subject at the 12th standard or with mathematics/statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level. A pass in 10+3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level can also appear in TANCET.
TANCET 2012 Application Form
The TANCET 2012 application form can be obtained either in person or by post. The payment for TANCET application form can be made through Demand Draft. Students can also download TANCET 2012 application form by logging to the official website. The duly filled TANCET application form should reach the address specified before the last date of submitting the application form. There will be a common TANCET form for all the programs and candidates who want to appear for more than one program has to pay additional examination fees for every program.
Anna University TANCET Exam
TANCET 2012 Exam for all courses will be of 2 hours duration consisting of multiple choice questions. There will be 100 questions for MBA and MCA Entrance exam each. There will be separate compulsory and specialization sections for ME/M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan entrance. The test has negative marking. TANCET MBA Entrance Test will have sections like Business situation analysis, Reading comprehension, Quantitative Section, Data sufficiency, Verbal ability.

TANCET 2012 Results & Counselling
TANCET results would be available to candidates towards the end of June. Anna University results are announced with the rank list of the qualifying candidates. The results in last week of June are announced only for written exam. Final list of qualifying candidates is revealed only after the group discussion and interviews are conducted for those qualifying the written test. According to the number of seats available, a list of waiting candidates is also displayed. These candidates can secure a seat, in case a candidate ranking above them declines admission for a particular seat.
Seat allotment is done through the counselling process. In the counselling candidates are given a choice for the preferred college or program according to the ranks. On the basis of merit candidates can put forward their acceptance for college and program available to them. The counselling process will begin soon after the results are announced.
